My Little Pony: The Movie
A Fantastical Website
Needing to reach young kids, some of whom don’t have their own phone or social accounts, we created a colorful, animated website full of games and activities.
Live-Animated Facebook Live With The Cast
A live event featuring the cast of the film would normally pose a challenge for an animated film. The solution? Live 3D face tracking and animation. The real voices of the ponies—who themselves had a massive fanbase thanks to the long-running TV show—performed live in a Facebook video feed. Thousands of parents and kids tuned in to hear personalized greetings from the ponies, and watch the world debut of a new Sia music video.
The event won the Best Facebook Live video of the year at the 2017 Streamy awards.
Create Your Own Pony
Watching the ponies is all well and good, but most fans wish they could be a pony. We obliged with a robust character creator that used personality questions and fan input to dynamically create a pony. Once named, fans could personalize and customize the pony’s look, and share more than a dozen posed looks on social media.
360 Character Debut
Since the most of the ponies in the film kept their same characters from the TV show, we had to get creative to show something new and innovative for the film.
We worked with the movie’s animators to create a “360 cinemagraph” that debuted on YouTube and Facebook.
AR Effects on Facebook
While commonplace today, Facebook and Instagram didn’t always feature AR. When Facebook first launched their in-app AR offerings in 2017, our My Little Pony effects were used as featured launch effects in their debut campaign.
